CTO at Nextwys from Oct-2024 to Dec-2024

Being a CTO is sounded like authority and cool but it was quite hard to maintain company's structure when it was already shaking.

How I found this job?

I was doing freelance as ITcians to start my own business in software services which led me to this sales agency called Nextwys. Where I delivered more than 40 Flutter apps so their growth was great as they were outsourcing experts like me to deliver quality work.
Later the decided to start their own production team to develop apps/projects in house and they approached me to join them as Chief Technical Officer(CTO) for a short contract to setup their production team and operations. So I joined them at their office at Bhawalpur, Punjab, Pakistan.

Life as CTO at Nextwys

As you know I had dynamic experiences not only in Mobile app development but also RESTful APIs, Websites, microservices, DevOps and technical management during that time so becoming a CTO was completely worth it.

When I joined there I saw they had 24 on going projects with 12 developers and all of the projects has past the delivery date. So I had to structure those project’s documentations and plan then later train their team to follow organisational standards to handle a software development life cycle.

Being a CTO is sounded like authority and cool but it was quite hard to maintain company’s structure when it was already shaking. Just imagine a software company is not following SDLC(Software Developing Life Circle).

The Ending

It was quite challenging while making deliveries and developing companies production department so I took more than 20 interviews within a month to lookout for some senior developers as company only had fresher and mid level. By doing so I saw major issue with the company that their cash burn and being at the risk of bankruptcy, they had burn all of their investment on developers already. So due to limited resources we had to take projects to out sourcing to deliver but unfortunately all projects were taken from Fiverr and no valid client so their account got suspended due to late deliveries and they lost their income source.

I learned a lesson that charming positions and titles are always trap if company is a start up. So before a layoff I already resigned from Nextwys.
